Who We Are

The Wood County Park District is a natural resources conservation agency with twenty parks and nature preserves. 

The mission of the Wood County Park District is to conserve, enhance and protect the natural and cultural resources of Wood County, while providing quality outdoor recreational and educational opportunities for Wood County citizens.

What We Do

With two cultural heritage sites, the Wood County Park District facilitates learning and exploration of our cultural heritage for Wood County citizens. 

Carter Historic Farm

The Carter Historic Farm is a 1930s cultural history museum. The facilities are open to visit on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. There are programs and community events held on site. Heritage Farm Fest in June, Farm Camp in July, Heritage Holiday in December and many more in between.

This 51-acre site features the Wood County History Museum, a functioning oil derrick, nature trails, herb gardens and more.

This is a collaborative effort between the Wood County Park District, the Wood County Commissioners, and the Wood County Historical Society. The Wood County Park District maintains the site grounds and holds the annual Folklore & Funfest event at the Historical Center in mid-October. The Museum is operated by the Wood County Historical Society and employees. They have many great events throughout the year as well as excellent exhibits. For more information:
