Adopt-a-Heritage Garden
Assist the Carter Historic Farm by helping on the heritage gardens.
This is an important part of our cultural preservation and education.
This is an outdoor and on-going volunteer position.
Most of the produce is donated to the Brown Bag Food Pantry

Location: Carter Historic Farm, 18331 Carter Road, Bowling Green, OH 43402
Duration: summer to autumn (May – October)
Days and times: Choose your own schedule during park hours: 8 am – 30 minutes past sunset.
Expectations of the volunteer(s)
- Adopt a collecting bed(s) for a growing season of summer – autumn
- Complete an introductory orientation
- Visit once per week for weeding, planting, and removing undesired plants
- Plant Seeds and seedlings in coordination with the Stewardship Staff
- Record volunteer hours at wcparks.galaxydigital.com
Expectations of Wood County Park District staff
- Prepare garden area
- Provide access to water and access to indoor restroom facility
- Provide any plants to be added
- Provide access to a first-aid kit and volunteer sign-in sheet
- Provide tools and training
- Provide map of the property
Requirements
- Be physically able to perform the volunteer duties
- Use tools safely and appropriately
- Demonstrate respect for yourself and others

- Create an account online at wcparks.galaxydigital.com
- Register for the Adopt-a-Heritage Garden program
- Read & sign the Wood County Park District Volunteer Handbook, send to jsands@wcparks.org
- Communicate with Anna to set up a day and time to receive an introduction.
Things to Know
- You will be invited to an annual Volunteer recognition event
- In case of inclement weather, please do not attend.
- This is a working farm, please be aware of farm machinery, animals, and activities.
